2017 VAAA Golf Tournament Successful 

 

The14th Annual Golf Tournament was held on October 6, 2017 at The Hollows Golf Course in Montpelier, VA.

 

A major fundraiser for the VAAA, last year’s tournament, the association realized net proceeds of over $2,700. 

 

Dan Brookman was the honoree, who retired in 2016 from Newport News Shipbuilding. He worked at The Apprentice School as the manager of craft training, admissions, and student services.

VAAA Scholarship Recipients Announced for 2016

President Thomas Bell announced this year’s recipients of the VAAA Scholarship programs.  One award was announced in the CTE Scholarship category and two awards were announced for the active/student membership. The VAAA also was a proud sponsor of Skills U.S.A. to help promote skills training in high school.

 

John Thompson from The Pruden Center for Industry and Technology in Suffolk was recognized as our CTE Instructor scholarship award recipient.

 

Charles Beamon

Charles Beamon is a craft instructor at The Apprentice School in the Coatings Specialist department. He is currently continuing his education at St. Leo University. 

 

Timothy Riley

Timothy Riley was a design apprentice graduate who went on to earn his degree in mechanical engineering. After his engineering degree, he decided to continue his education and was working on a MBA from William and Mary.
